In support of further developments of our work in artificial
life, our ecosystem has been enhanced with a more realistic model of
reforestation. A particle system was developed to represent multiple
stages in the development of a tree to seed-bearing maturity. The
model is simple enough to be efficient in it's execution, and yet the growth
pattern which emerges is visually satisfying.
